Here are some faces I did way back when, for a make-work project at artschool; simply, "draw faces," I think the goal was a hundred. I watched a film I was into at the time and just paused on faces during suitable melodramatic moments; If I was smart I would have stopped the film every time someone was pulling one of those ridiculous faces that we all do when talking but you don't notice without a camera, tongue lolling, mouth open, one eye half closed, that kind of thing.

lol a cool idea for a series, "caught while talking". The above sketches are great man, really like how rough and ready they are, how you keep it scribbly
ReplyDeleteGreat sketches, Iv been staring at them for ages trying to figure out the films
ReplyDeleteCheers guys. The top three are from an Icelandic film called Hafið (The Sea), so I'll be impressed if you got it! though the bottom one was drawn from Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson in Englar Alheimsins (Angels of the universe), who you may have seen in Beowulf and Grendel.
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff. I like the rough and ready look and the interesting mark making you've done. Pencil I think is medium where most arty people feel at home.
ReplyDeleteLovely expressive lines in these. 100 faces, wow! I remember my tutor made me do 30 mini collages in a day. I was much less lazy then. ;)
ReplyDeletegreat sketches ..love how they've been caught so quickly and the tones are great...very raw!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, can't escape the pencil Rob!
