Tawny Frog-mouths are one of the most humorous looking birds on the planet, they have a great look and fantastic expression in their faces. I'd been wanting a chance to draw them for years, so when I got a commission that asked to depicted an old married couple as a pair of birds I reckon that they would be perfect candidates and I jumped to the chance to final draw and paint these amazing looking birds. Oddly enough as far as the facial expression of these to go I really didn't need to change them at all (that is really what they look like) I simple added the hats and slippers and that was that. I really loved them and was sorry to sell them, very fun and one of my favourite birds.

Nice man! They definitely look like an old married couple alright, especially the more crouched one with the farmers cap. Great character to them. Is it pen & ink u use over your watercolours?
