Boats in the harbor Youghal
oil on canvas 36 x 26 cm
This is a plein air I did in Youghal a while back on a day out with the Southwest
plein air group. It's currently hanging in the Back Lane Gallery in Killarney
with a selection of others following the kind offer of wall space from the
gallery committee. So if any of you readers are around there
please feel free to drop in.... please excuse the plug also :)

Nice man, I always like how u use the texture of the underlying surface in your pieces and there is a dreamlike impression of light, very cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks JG, I started prepping canvas like that a year or two ago after looking at works by Edward Seago, some of his works appear to have been painted in a texture underneath the actual finish work and it really adds to the way light is reflected back from the canvas. I thought I might try it from time to time, sometimes it works for me and sometimes not :)
ReplyDeleteWell it worked here. Whats nice about something like that too is that it makes experiencing the piece in real life much richer
ReplyDeleteThats great man, I love the clouds the most I think, great feel to them
