Rembrandt studied with reckless abandon..

As the title suggests it's a fast Rembrandt, I know, it almost seems
like a lack of respect for the great man, but it's an excellent way to
study. I tried here, to get all the essential elements down on paper in
under five minutes and I think I barely managed it. A friend of mine
on seeing it, asked me if the poor man was exploding and I guess it
does portray a relatively chaotic approach. As a contrast here is
another study done with equal abandon but with more time given..

  1. Both nice results Kev! I think I prefer the rapid pen & ink piece. You ever see Sergio Toppis work? For some reason that fast pen & ink version reminds me of his work for some reason and since you already know Mobius, you may know Toppi.

  3. I really like the top one Kev, its fantastic. I don't know if I would have thought it straight away but Jon is right, it does remind me of Toppi too, whose work I regularly drool over :)
